JOB DESCRIPTION

Department : Maintenance of Way

Supervisor : Team Leader and Maintenance of Way Supervisor

Type of Employment : Seasonal, Regular Full-Time, Unionized

Workplace : Between Emeril and Schefferville

Salary :  Between $ 25,31 and $ 31,35 / hour

Schedule : 37,5 hours / week,  14/14 shift

Probation : 480 worked hours

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Track Team Leader and the Maintenance of Way Supervisor, the candidate operates a variety of Class 3 equipment and performs maintenance inspections. He must also be able to correctly perform all railway maintenance activities.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Operate Class 3 machinery;
• Perform maintenance inspections on machinery;
• Perform all railway maintenance activities;
• Remove snow and ice from switches;
• Take care of weeding;
• Correct track leveling defects;
• Install and maintain level crossings;
• Unload ballast;
• Distribute track material;
• Perform track patrols and report damaged areas; and Perform all other tasks related to his or her duties

REQUIREMENTS

• Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license;
• Ability to work effectively in a team;
• Ability to work outdoors, sometimes in extreme weather conditions;
• Demonstrate respect regarding all safety regulations and standards;
• Have good hand-eye coordination; and
• Be in good physical condition and required to perform frequent heavy lifting.
